plane has caught fire after it 'crash-landed' at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, delaying all flights from the airport indefinitely.

On Twitter, the official Dubai Media Office said all passengers and crew were evacuated safely and "concerned authorities" were dealing with the incident.

"The Emirates flight coming from India crash-landed at Dubai International Airport and passengers were evacuated without reports of any injuries so far," the media office said.
"All departure flights from Dubai International Airport have been delayed until further notice."

The plane, a Boeing 777 belonging to the airline Emirates, departed from the Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram in the state of Kerala and landed at the airport on schedule.

However, on arrival at Dubai flight EK521 was "involved in an accident", Emirates confirmed.

"Emirates can confirm that an incident happened at Dubai International Airport on 3rd August 2016 at about 12.45pm local time," the airline posted on social media.
"There were 275 passengers and crew on board. Our main priority now is the safety and well-being of all involved."

Airline tracking website FlightRadar24 reported the plane landed at 12.44pm, just one minute before the incident began.

One video showed the plane slowly grinding to a halt on the tarmac as smoke began to rise, with its right engine dragging behind the wing.
