Korean Air signs deals to buy up to 100 Boeing, Airbus planes / YTN

Korean Air has singed a deal to buy up to 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 passenger jets and two 777-300ER (Extended Range) planes, worth as much as 6 billion dollars at list price.

The deal, unveiled at the Paris air show on Tuesday, included the top Korean carrier’s intent to purchase 30 737 MAX narrow-body jets with an option for an additional 20. The airline said it is working with Boeing to finalize the order.

In a separate development earlier on Tuesday, Korean Air committed to purchase 30 A321NEO planes from Airbus. It was the first time the Asian carrier has bought single-aisle planes from the European maker. The airline also took an option on 20 of the Airbus aircraft.

Korean Air added that deliveries of the aircraft involved in the two deals will be made from 2019 through 2025.
