News Update: Singapore Airlines to Offer In Flight WiFi by Early 2011

Officials from Singapore Airlines announced Tuesday that the carrier will have the option of offering in-flight wireless Internet access to passengers by 2011, reports AFP. WiFi access will reportedly be available to passengers at 35,000 feet, and airline officials said that in-flight phone services will also be available during the first half of next year. Yap Kim Wah, senior vice president for product and services commented, "The environment that our customers have gotten used to on the ground can soon be replicated in the air, when they fly with Singapore Airlines on aircraft fitted with this new connectivity platform, Travelling on business or pleasure, they are just a click or an SMS away, with access to live information, social networking and news updates, as well as inflight shopping."
