A long over due trip back to Kefalonia! It had been a few years since I’d been back to visit my family. So after finding cheap flights with Thomas Cook just 2 weeks before the departure date I thought why not and booked it up! Must admit I was rather hoping for one of the new Thomas Cook A321’s with the sharklets but was quite pleased to see I would be travelling on the “Egypt, Where it all begins” aircraft. Very busy flight, not many if any empty seats about, lots of families and couples off for a week or two break. We pushed back bang on time, but a long taxi right up to runway 08R meant we weren’t airborne until getting on for 6:20. The lighting during take off was just perfect! Couldn’t ask for any more, engine was lit up perfectly and with the damp morning moisture still lingering in the air there’s some fantastic displays of water vapour forming in the engine and over the wing! Fairly quiet flight once airborne, most people fell asleep missing the stunning views over Europe.
